Biblical Integration: Students will begin to understand the power of Jesus. Even the winds and the waters obey him! What kind of man is this?
Essential Question: Does Jesus always stop the storm?
-Tell the story of Jesus Calming a Storm using a Children's Bible or one of these YouTube links: Kid on the Move or LifeKids. Review what a miracle is (something only God/Jesus can do). Ask your child is there a miracle in this story? Would you be surprised if you were a disciple in the boat?
-As you talk about bad storms at night. Give them a piece of dark colored paper and chalk and tell them to draw a storm. Tell them that this storm must have been really bad, because many of the disciples were used to fishing in boats and had seen many storms while in a boat. Talk about us being in storms. Does Jesus always stop the storm if we pray? Sometimes Jesus wants us to trust him during the storm.
-I will email a video talking about what all the "big" words mean (envy, boast, and proud) in the Memory Verse. Was Jesus patient, kind, boast, was proud, or had envy? This shows us that Jesus is love. Jesus loved perfectly. Since we have talked about equals signs in math write "Jesus = Love" and help your child write this on a heart.
